Community Care Access Program

At Boost Psychology, we understand that access to mental health services can create a barrier for some people. We are committed to providing accessible, high-quality psychological services in our community.

Our Community Care Program (sliding scale) offers therapy at a reduced rate with clinicians who are completing their supervised practice toward full registration as a registered psychologist. All of our provisional psychologists work under the supervision of an experienced registered psychologist.

This program is ideal for people who are:

  • Paying for services out of pocket
  • Have limited extended health benefits
  • Face financial barriers to accessing mental health care

* Each of our provisional psychologists has a limited number of Community Care Program spots.

FAQ’s

How many sessions do I get under the Community Care Program?

The Community Care Program includes a limited number of sessions at the program rate, to be used within six months of your first appointment.

Can I use my extended health benefits?

Yes. Our provisional psychologists can direct bill Alberta Blue Cross, GreenShield, and Medavie Blue Cross. They may be eligible for coverage from other insurance companies, where you would need to pay upfront and submit the receipt. Please check with your individual plans for coverage for psychological services and provisional psychologists.

What happens if I want to continue after the ten sessions?

You can sign up for the program again and be placed in the queue to access the program again. This may mean that you will be assigned a new clinician depending on availability.

Can I pick the provisional psychologist I want to see?

You can let us know your preference and if that person has Community Care spots, we will match you to them. If your preferred clinician does not have spots, you will be matched with another clinician.

Can I use the program if I have been in a car accident or have any ongoing legal issues?

No. This program is not available for people seeking services paid by third party services (ex. Motor vehicle accidents, disability services, WCB, court support etc.).

Do I need to provide proof of income to access the program?

Not at this time. The Community Care Program operates on an honour-based system. We ask that this program be reserved for individuals experiencing financial barriers to accessing care at the standard rates.
