Corrine Slator, M.C.
Registered Provisional Psychologist
Counselling Therapist

Hi, my name is Corrine, and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist. I work with couples and individuals aged 13+ using an approach that balances cognitive processing, emotional awareness, and somatic understanding. I have experience with a wide variety of therapeutic challenges, working most extensively on concerns related to relationships, ADHD, self-esteem, anger, and major life transitions.
What To Expect
My overall demeanour is casual and light-hearted, yet direct. At the start of our session, I will immediately kick off my slippers and get comfortable – encouraging you to do the same! As we progress, you will soon notice that I “tell it like I see it” with a compassionate, strength-based approach that meets you where you are in your journey. I love to give homework! – but am flexible to accommodate your learning style and what feels most practical to you.
During our first session, I focus on getting to know you and understanding your goals for therapy, then close the session with some early reflections on therapeutic direction. Typically, intakes and subsequent sessions last 50-minutes. For couples, I will sometimes suggest 80-minute sessions to allow more time for practising communication strategies together. This is, of course, optional.
Who I Work With
Individuals (13+)
I work with teens and adults who want to better understand themselves, build confidence, develop skills, and move through life challenges with clarity and self-compassion. I primarily work with concerns related to:
- Relationships
- ADHD
- Self-esteem and perfectionism
- Anger
- Anxiety
- Depression and burnout
- Trauma
- Grief
- Major life transitions
(ie: career, identity, transition to adulthood or parenting, relationships, illness and disability)
Couples and Adult Relationships
I work with couples and other adult relationships, such as siblings or parent/adult child, to identify actionable steps for relational concerns and conflicts. This includes practical strategies for:
- Enhancing communication and understanding
- Identifying the feelings and needs underneath the conflict
- Overcoming trust violations
- Setting boundaries
- Increasing emotional connection and intimacy
More About Me
Therapeutic Modalities
My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) while pulling techniques from various modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and the Gottman Method.
Professional Development and Training
My passion for psychology has led to many exciting opportunities, including guest lecturing at the graduate level, providing consultation to early career therapists and student interns, and engaging in research. Currently, I am working with Dr. Chelsey Wakefield on a research project entitled “Working Across Neurotypes: A Scoping Review of Clinical Models in Couples Therapy for Neurodivergent Adults“. I am also in the process of gaining competency in the following areas of formal psychological assessment for adults (including university students):
- Psychoeducational
- ADHD
- Autism
- Personality disorders
- Mental health and trauma
After completing my internship at Boost Psychology in September 2024, I remained on the team in a Mental Health Therapist role until becoming a Registered Provisional Psychologist in January 2025. Since that time, I have enrolled in numerous PESI training courses. Trainings that have been particularly valuable to my development as therapist include:
- Healing Betrayal Trauma and Grief – John and Julie Gottman, David Kessler
- The Narcissism and Gaslighting Summit: Clinical Strategies for Navigating Narcissistic Abuse, Coercive Control, and The Path to Recovery
- Treating Complex Trauma with Internal Family Systems (IFS)
- Foundations of Neuro-Affirming Practice: Experiential Training for Working with High-masking Autism, Burnout, PDA, and more
- Changing The ADHD Brain: Moving Beyond Medication
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for Generalized Anxiety, Panic Disorder, OCD, Social Anxiety, and Phobias
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Certification Training
Beyond the Therapy Room
When I am not at work or with my family, you will find me hitting the Edmonton River Valley trails, or curled up with the decaf latte at a local café – likely reading up on my newest psychology-based passion! Previously, I worked in construction management and business consulting – experiences that I believe bring a grounded and practical perspective to my work. My own journey of recovery and self-discovery was sparked by a life-changing accident that set me on a new path and formed my personal understanding of resilience, identity, and growth. This redirection led to pursuing my dream career – working with others to help them find their true selves and build a life that emulates that. If you are ready to dive into therapy, and my approach sounds like a fit, I look forward to meeting you!
