Pragya Varma, M.Ed.
Registered Provisional Psychologist
Counselling Therapist
My approach to counselling is eclectic. I use techniques from different evidence-based treatment modalities, such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE). My goal is to create a collaborative and equal relationship with my clients, where they feel safe and supported. We work together towards healing. I recognize that a person’s cultural background can greatly impact their experiences. Therefore, I use culturally informed and safe practices. I also believe that mental and emotional health is affected by factors like childhood experiences, relationships, and habits like sleep. I explore these areas during therapy.
I have worked with clients facing issues such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, life changes, relationship problems, grief, trauma (PTSD), and borderline personality disorder. I have also helped those who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual violence, and complex trauma. I work with adults and couples.
